Aekuni Shrine in Iga’s Ichinomiya district performs a ceremonial Shishi Kagura (Lion Dance) on January 3 (Maihatsu Festival), April 17 (Maijo Festival), and December 5 (On Festival) of every year. The Shishi Kagura (Lion Dance), a Prefectural Intangible Cultural Property, is performed for the shrine as a prayer for bountiful harvests and the safety of the family.

This festival offers thanks for harvests and prays for the safety of the region by offering narezushi (fermented fish pickled with rice) made with konoshiro gizzard shad, a fish whose name changes as it grows, to gods.

The last of the autumn festivals in the Iga region, this event is held at a shrine related to Todaiji Nigatsudo and Kanbodaiji Shogetsudo temples in Nara. During this autumn festival, a procession of portable shrines, including children's portable shrines, is followed by several events, including the return of the portable shrines, the Miko Kagura (Shrine Maiden's Dance) performed by children, and the Shishi Kagura (Lion Dance).
