Home to a wealth of historical attractions, from ninja heritage to the legacy of poet Matsuo Bashō, Iga offers visitors an experience steeped in culture and tradition. Our tours weave together fascinating stories, cultural insights, and historical roots, guiding you through the heart of Iga Ueno. Listening to the voices of our local storytellers is sure to make your journey even more enjoyable and memorable.

Founded in 1994, the Iga Ueno Storytellers’ Association is a volunteer guide group dedicated to introducing visitors to the charms of Iga. As of 2025, the association has 54 active members who bring the city’s history and culture to life.

How to Book a Guide

If you would like a guided tour, please complete the online form on the Iga Ueno Storytellers’ Association website, or download the “Application Form” below, fill in the required information, and submit it at least 10 days before your desired tour date.

As a general guide, one storyteller will be assigned for every 10–15 guests.

You may choose from our suggested model courses, or provide your own preferred itinerary.

⚠️ Important Notes

📌 Reservation status: We may decline your request depending on availability.
💰 Fee: Guided tours are free of charge; however, we request a Storyteller Support Fee of 1,000 yen per guide for transportation.
🍱 Lunch period tours: If your tour includes 12:30 p.m., please provide either:
- 💴 1,000 yen lunch fee, or
- 🍽️ Lunch with your group, covering the guide’s meal.
🛡️ Liability: We are not responsible for accidents or damages during the tour.
🌦️ Weather warnings: In case of severe weather alerts (heavy rain, flood, strong wind, etc.) for Iga, we may cancel the tour after contacting you.
