When you're in Ninja City, you simply must transform into a ninja! Many shops and hotels here have ninja costumes available for rent. Some shops may even offer ninja garb with special patterns!
A smartphone app for walking around the castle town of Iga and enjoying it with all five senses is now available! Walk through modern-day Iga while experiencing the castle town of the Edo Period and the virtual world of the ninja. Navigate town with the map of your choice, including the Edo-Era Iga Map (an old map that has been digitized) and the World of the Ninja (a virtual ancient map).
In the castle town of Iga-Ueno, take part in ninja training whenever you want! There are five dojos in the castle town area where you can train in the ways of the ninja. After completing the training, you will be certified as an Iga ninja at the main dojo. Become a Jonin (Ninja Master) and earn an original pin badge you can only get here!
At Iga Tradition Museum & Iga Kumihimo Kumi no Sato, try your hand at making the traditional craft Iga Kumihimo (braided cord). Using a circular braiding stand called a marudai, workshop participants can weave an octagonal kongogumi cord using 100% silk and gold thread. This can be made into a keychain or bracelet you can take home. The instructors will patiently and thoroughly show you what to do, so even first-timers can give it a try.
