Spring is the season of new beginnings. It is also the season for rice planting in the mountain villages that dot the area as well as festivals to pray for rain and bountiful harvests. The mild weather makes it easy to take part in traditional events such as viewing cherry blossoms, peonies, and azaleas.
Iga-Ueno Castle, the symbol of Iga-Ueno, is the perfect spot for cherry blossom viewing. There are also cherry blossoms near Haiseiden, where many people take pictures of Haiseiden and cherry blossoms together. At night, the area is illuminated with lanterns to create a lovely nighttime scenery of the cherry blossoms and the castle.
